The Diabetes Walk/Run for World Diabetes Day will take place through the city of Alicante on Sunday under the slogan “Educate to protect the future”
The 9th edition of this traditional event is being held to raise awareness of this health problem, which affects 14% of the Spanish population
The initiative has the collaboration of ISABIAL and the Alicante Health Department – General Hospital
Alicante (10.11.22). The 9th Walk–Run “World Diabetes Day Alicante 2022” will take place next Sunday, 13 November, under the slogan “Educate to protect the future”.
The initiative aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and is organized by the Alicante Diabetics Association (UDA), in collaboration with the rest of the Diabetes Units of the province of Alicante, the Diabetes Unit of the Alicante Health Department – General Hospital, and the Alicante Health and Biomedical Research Institute (ISABIAL).
In addition, it has the endorsement of the Spanish Society of Endocrinology and Nutrition (SEEN) and the Valencian Society of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition (SVEDyN), and aligns with the #EducateToProtect campaign promoted by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF).
This is a sporting event held in conjunction with World Diabetes Day (WDD) and has become a staple in the Valencian Community. Over the eight editions held so far, it has helped raise awareness of this disease, which has a prevalence of over 14% in Spain.
The 5‑kilometer walk or run will start at 10:30 a.m. from San Juan Beach (seafront promenade with Irlanda Street). At 11:30 a.m., children’s races will take place.
