What are we talking about?
Clinical simulation is not only a training tool for healthcare professionals, but also a powerful methodology for analysing, redesigning, and improving care and organisational processes. At SimIA Lab, we apply simulation as a safe and effective way to detect latent failures, optimise workflows, validate new spaces or protocols, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Areas of action
- Simulation for process redesign:
Evaluation of clinical pathways (for example, stroke care, sepsis protocol, urgent obstetric care) to identify latent safety threats or systemic errors.
- Simulation for proof‑of‑concept testing:
Trials conducted before implementing structural, technological, or equipment changes (for example, the opening of new areas such as Paediatric Emergency Care or the Arrhythmia Unit).
Where and how do we do it?
We carry out simulations in the real environment to identify human‑factor issues, design flaws, or interprofessional communication problems. We use high‑fidelity simulators or standardized patients.
And, above all, why do we do it?
For the identification of risks before they reach the patient, the validation of safety barriers, and the improvement of organisational culture.
