The current situation of cutaneous melanoma treatment in its different clinical scenarios will be reviewed: adjuvant, neoadjuvant and metastatic disease. The historical evolution of the management of this neoplasm will be addressed, from classical options with very limited efficacy to the arrival of immunotherapy and targeted therapies, which have significantly transformed prognosis and patient survival.
The presentation will be structured into three main sections:
- Adjuvant treatment: current indications and results with checkpoint inhibitors and BRAF/MEK inhibitors.
- Neoadjuvant treatment: emerging evidence and its impact on surgery and survival.
- Metastatic disease: first-line treatment strategies.
Finally, several clinical cases will be presented that illustrate the practical application of these advances and reflect how the incorporation of new therapies has substantially changed the course of the disease.
