The Rheumatology Section of Dr. Balmis General University Hospital in Alicante, together with the Alicante Institute for Health and Biomedical Research (ISABIAL), is organizing the II Training Conference on Osteoporosis for Primary Care in the province of Alicante on June 12, 2026, in the assembly hall of the General University Hospital of Alicante.

This course, aimed at Primary Care and Hospital professionals, seeks to strengthen knowledge about the diagnosis and comprehensive management of osteoporosis. Topics of interest will be addressed, such as the appropriate use of bone densitometry, the best pharmacological treatment strategies, and the importance of patient education to improve adherence, reduce the risk of falls, and enhance quality of life.

Osteoporosis (OP) represents a significant public health problem due to its prevalence, especially in postmenopausal individuals and older adults, and the serious consequences associated with fractures due to fragility, such as disability, loss of quality of life, and increased mortality. Providing patients with osteoporosis with appropriate and high-quality healthcare is essential, although it is becoming an increasingly complex task.

This conference aims to:

  • Transmit knowledge of the most important updates and scientific evidence in osteoporosis.
  • Provide information on appropriate diagnosis, management and follow-up of osteoporosis, taking into account Primary Care resources.
  • Provide practical information and updates on disease care and management: therapies, follow-up and referral criteria.
