This recognition accredits ISABIAL as a Health Research Institute, in accordance with the requirements established by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII). The initial accreditation, obtained on 12 February 2020, and its subsequent reaccreditation on 12 February 2025, confirm the consolidation of the Institute and reinforce its commitment to scientific excellence, translational research, and the continuous improvement of the healthcare system.
The reaccreditation confirms the sustained fulfilment of the standards required by the ISCIII and acknowledges the evolution, maturity, and quality of the research model developed by ISABIAL in collaboration with the healthcare system and the academic sector.

ISABIAL obtained ISO 56001 certification on 30 April 2025, accrediting the implementation of an Innovation Management System in accordance with international standards. This certification endorses the Institute’s capacity to manage innovation in a structured and systematic manner, fostering value creation, continuous improvement, collaboration, and knowledge transfer in the field of health and biomedical research.
ISO 56001 strengthens the alignment of innovation with the institutional strategy and helps consolidate an organisational model oriented towards results, scientific impact, and sustainability.
ISABIAL’s Innovation Management System is led by Dr Ana Tobarra, who is responsible for ensuring its proper implementation, monitoring, and alignment with the Institute’s institutional strategy.

ISABIAL is aligned with the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R), an initiative of the European Commission that promotes the implementation of the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. This recognition reflects the Institute’s commitment to transparent, merit‑based human resources policies focused on professional development.

ISABIAL obtained certification under the National Security Scheme (ENS), through the µCeENS (Micro‑CeENS) methodology, on 5 August 2025. This certification ensures that the Institute’s information systems comply with the principles and requirements necessary to guarantee the confidentiality, integrity, availability, traceability, and authenticity of the information they manage.
The ENS constitutes a fundamental pillar for strengthening information security and service continuity, particularly in the context of health and biomedical research, where the handling of sensitive data and institutional trust are essential.
The governance of ISABIAL’s Information Security Management System is structured through a clearly defined set of responsibilities. Elena Bertomeu, from ISABIAL’s General Management, assumes responsibility for information; Dr Juan Antonio Martínez serves as the security officer; Alberto García is the system manager; and Pedro David Moreno acts as the service manager, ensuring a comprehensive approach aligned with the principles of the National Security Scheme.
